This is a fun practice that focuses awareness into the present moment. You have to be focused and aware of exactly where you are placing your feet as you move, keeping yourself balanced and steady. (Please be aware of your own personal physical limitations in deciding if this is an appropriate practice for you to try.)
Look for a trail or area in nature that is scattered with partially buried rocks. No loose rocks – you don’t want them to move when you step on them. And I wouldn’t recommend this after a rain, since the rocks can get quite slippery!
Walk the trail by only stepping on rocks for as long as possible. Tree roots count as well, but only if necessary.
That’s it! Sometimes we turn this into a competition to see who can make it the farthest without touching the dirt. But most times, it’s just for fun!
